Axie Infinity is launching "The Wings of Nightmare" event on November 21st at 3 PM PHT, giving players the chance to evolve their Axies with rare Nightmare parts. This limited-time event brings new features, aesthetics, and collectible benefits to the Ronin-based pet-battle game. It's shaping up to be the biggest Axie Core experience ever!
What's The Wings of Nightmare All About?
The Wings of Nightmare is a special event where players evolve eligible Axie parts from Stage 1 to Stage 2 Nightmare parts. But that's not all. If you're luckyâand braveâyour Axie might even transform its entire body into a coveted Nightmare Body. With the supply capped at 39,000 Nightmare Parts and 1,500 Nightmare Bodies, the competition will be fierce. Miss out, and you'll be waiting for someone to devolve their Nightmare parts to free up the supply.
Nightmare Axies don't just look spookyâthey come packed with benefits:
- Fortune Slips: Axies with at least one Nightmare part will become collectible Axies, which means they'll receive benefits like Fortune Slips. A Base Nightmare with a Stage 2 Part will earn 3 Fortune Slips per day.
- Rarity Boost: Each Nightmare part has its own supply cap, meaning rarity is a given.
- Origins Meta Morphing: Morph up to three parts and unlock Nightmare Collectible Chests, Runes, and Charm Boxes. These upgrades mirror the perks of the Rare, Epic, and Mystic Origins eras for Summer Axies.
- Homeland Adventures: Nightmare parts will integrate into Homeland, offering their own evolved ratings and combat quality boosts for Axie Adventures. Whether you're battling foes or exploring new lands, Nightmare Axies are designed to dominate.
- Visual Edge: The Nightmare aesthetics will roll out across all Axie-related games.
And here's the kicker: Axies with Nightmare parts or bodies will become part of the Nightmare Collection. This means you can upgrade your regular Axies into collectible Axies through this event!
How to Join the Madness
The event is accessible via the App.axie platform. Here's how you can snag those eerie upgrades:
- Check Your Axie's Eligibility: Only Axies with certain base parts (see above) are eligible for evolution.
- Gather Evolution Materials: You'll need AXS tokens for the evolution fee and Mementos. No special materials required!
- Start the Transformation: Choose Instant Evolution to see results straight away, or take the usual route and wait 96 hours for completion.
Unveiling Devolution: The Path to Nightmare Bodies
To get a Nightmare Body, you'll need to devolve a Nightmare part. This process reverses the evolution of Stage 2 parts, but it's a gamble. Devolution requires a Dark Flame, crafted through the App.axie Forge by burning rare materials, or purchased on the marketplace.
Each attempt at devolution comes with a 5% chance to transform an Axie's body into a Nightmare Body. If you succeed, your Axie gains a visual and gameplay overhaul, including increased odds of receiving Shiny Nightmare parts in future evolutions. But if you fail, it's back to square one.
Eligible body types for this transformation include:
- Normal
- Fuzzy
- Big Yak
- Curly
- Spiky
- Wet Dog
- Sumo
What's in It for You?
Beyond evolving your Axies into ghoulish works of art, the Nightmare event also comes with juicy rewards:
- Mystic Axie Giveaway: The holy grail of collectibles.
- 10 Origin Axies and 2,500 Regular Axies: Perfect for expanding your army.
- Crypto Prizes: Over 3,000 AXS and 6 ETH are up for grabs.
- Premium Items: From Radiant Spirit Shells to Super Cocos.
More details will be revealed once The Wings of Nightmare event starts on Thursday.
Dynamic Supply Mechanics
Unlike static supply caps of past events, The Wings of Nightmare introduces dynamic supply mechanics. Whenever someone devolves a Nightmare part, it replenishes the availability, keeping the event alive for a while longer. However, once the 1,500 Nightmare Bodies are claimed, they're gone for good.
Prepare for the Dream World's Darker Side
This is no casual stroll through Lunacia. The Nightmare event is a high-stakes, high-reward adventure that requires careful planning and resource management. Launching Nightmare Bodies and Parts doesn't just make Axies look cooler; it adds layers of strategy and collectibility to the game. Whether you're in it for the rewards or the bragging rights, this is one Axie Core event you don't want to miss.
