Necrodemic, a free to play third-person shooter that is part of the Bullieverse entertainment ecosystem, has now officially launched on the Epic Games Store.
What Is Necrodemic?
Necrodemic is a free to play wave-based shooter in which you play as a customizable humanoid bull character, shooting down skeletons, flaming hounds, and various bear-like enemies in third-person view as you attempt to survive a certain number of waves or hold out for a specific time period to win the game. As you play, you get to level up and unlock skill tokens which are used to unlock various buffs through the skill tree, such as increased HP, higher damage for certain weapons, and more.
Think of the popular Zombies mode in the Call of Duty Black Ops series, but in third-person view, with enemies generally representing zombie-like bears, and visuals more akin to Fortnite, and you get Necrodemic. Made in Unreal Engine 5, the game uses the Beyond Network protocol, the Base blockchain, and the layer 1 Saga to onboard web2 gamers.
Whatâs Included in Necrodemic for EGS Launch?
Initially planned to go live on October 30th, the round-based shooter is now live on Epicâs platform for anyone to download on Windows PCs, with a MacOS release arriving soon, if it hasnât already. You will need to login using a Beyond Network account to start playing.
By playing now on launch, you can enjoy an action-packed web3 gaming experience across 3 different modes for free, all PvE: Undead Rush, Quick Mode, and Last Stand.
Undead Rush is a wave-based survival mode where you try to take down all enemies across 20 rounds while trying to get the best score that you can. As you shoot down different types of enemies, you gain points to unlock various parts of the map. Enemies have a chance of dropping various power-ups, such as insta-kills, quick auto shooting, and so on. There seems to be only one map available at the time of writing, with the current map divided into 2 visually distinct areas.
Quick Mode uses the same map as Undead Rush, but instead of surviving 20 waves, you have to hold on for 15 minutes to claim victory. Last Stand is more different than the rest, as it puts you in a specific location that is guarded off by a breakable barrier. The goal of the Last Stand mode is to protect this barrier for as long as you can from waves of enemies. Killing enemies also gives you points here that you can spend at a shop featuring grenades and a variety of mostly ranged weapons.
All of these modes seem to be only playable solo, and by jumping into them now, you can start practicing for upcoming play to airdrop competitions.
Play to Airdrop in Necrodemic Starts Soon!
In the initial launch announcement, the Bullieverse team teased that there would be leaderboard tournaments to participate in for airdrop rewards, but following the delayed release, it looks like the play to airdrop events werenât ready to happen straight away.
According to this tweet however, the studio teased the community to stay tuned âfor an existing line of activations and campaignsâ starting from November 11th. This means that we could see reward-packed competitions go live during this week, but specific details on how this will work has not been revealed at the time of writing. I guess we can likely look forward to seeing token prize pools for each of the 3 game modes, with the players who manage to get the highest scores reaping a bigger airdrop of $BULL tokens.
